I don't understand why you care so much. If Iain likes it - why does it hurt
you? I don't know of a single commandment or scripture that this study
violates. If he was using it to predict the future - then yes. But, he's
using it as a study topic.
"There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus,
who walk not after the flesh, but after the spirit." Rom 8:1
I don't find this spiritual numerology to be after the flesh. Yet you
condemn him.
Romans 2:1 "Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that
judgest: for where-in thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself: for
thou that judgest doest the same things."
And a) I don't find Vernon's numerology sinful and b) any judging he's
done - you've done too.
I play solitaire every day at the end of the day and my daughter plays mine
sweeper. I think mine sweeper is a stupid game. She's welcome to it.
At worst, his numerology is a hobby. At best, it might get someone's
attention so that Vernon has a chance to witness to him. And whether that
person agrees with Vernon or not as to the age of the earth, is irrelevant
to Salvation. I believe we all agree on that one.
By the way - I delete most e-mails on this subject after reading the first
line. So, I am no expert to judge - but AHA -God expects to do that anyway.
I'm off the hook.
Let Vernon and Iain send their e-mails publicly without persecution so that
they can pick up more fans if they like.
What did Jesus say about don't stop my word being preached by charlatans
because it's at least being preached? And that's worst case - I don't
believe they're in any way charlatans.
If someone else was interested in pursuing the topic - you're hostility
would chase them away. I believe that is a greater risk than them being
turned off by a tangentential topic. And good-spirited disagreements could
well pull people in. Emphasis is on good-spirited.

Vernon has convinced me of the complete corruptibility of the human mind
when it seeks to follow silly myths so that it gets detached from any
semblance of godliness or reason. He is obviously intellectual schizophrenic
in the way he expects all to believe his mathematical fairy-tales yet
dismisses all historical science without even considering it.
The more he writes the more I am amazed.
