Did you ever notice that in II Timothy 3:16,17 "All scripture is given by
inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for
correction, for instruction in righteousness. That the man of God may be
perfect throughly furnished unto all good works."

There's nothing that indicates anything other than the spiritual - the part
we take with us. If it just said, 'instruction.', there might be - but it
doesn't. I looked up doctrine and it is 'teaching'.

And in Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick and powerful, and sharper
than any two-egded sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and
    spirit...

The word of God is capable of separating our soul - intellect, etc. - from
our spirit. And, that - I believe - speaks to the purpose. The Bible is for
    spiritual growth - not intellectual.

I Cor 1:27 But I God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound
    the wise...

I Cor 3:19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness to God...

I have found God to have an amazing sense of humor. I have, on many
occasions, asked for something and then had circumstances add up to make it
seemingly quite clear that another alternative must be chosen. Then phwoom -
the desired result arrived in the most unlikely manner. Sometimes, it's been
a 'Can you believe that!' that I can tell people about. Other times, not.

I believe the 'gotchas' are a part of the earth experience and they will
always be with us. And I believe that God finds a way of sending them to the
most confident people standing on the apparently firmest ground.

II Tim 3:4 No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this
life, that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.

    tempered with

Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things
shall be added unto you. Matthew 6:33

The point is - I agree with those of you who say that the Bible is inspired
clear through and that it just was not written with anything but spiritual
intent. It was written to reach people, and if the people being reached put
in some of their own false teachings on non-spiritual matters that that was
    irrelevant.

I used to believe that us getting too advanced would be a factor in the
timing of the second coming. Now, I believe, that God has gotchas planted
everywhere. When the truth is revealed, every scientist, everywhere will be
shocked about something. I believe that is God's way.

God is God and we're not.
