I find your reference to MacArthur interesting. I had "Johnnie" in class
many years ago. I also knew Don Householder, his predecessor as pastor.
My daughter was in his congregation some years back when he announced
that there was no adequate commentary on one of the epistles (I forget
which one), but that the lack would soon be remedied by the release of
    his commentary.

Filling out the statement you cite, God created a universe which must
mislead all men who honestly study it. This means that his deity fits my
Lord's description of the devil in John 8:44.

John MacArthur quite simply states that "science" is good for
understanding what we observe --- but it is 100% invalid for past
extrapolation. His position is that God created the world (with the
history built in) some 10K Years ago (AND THAT "IS ALL SHE WROTE")
I don't buy it, but it is indistinguishable from your position, unless
you can propose one as an alternative.
