    Hi Jim,

I've been away from my computer a while. I have a couple notes from you to
respond to. The first I saw that caught my attention was your statement that
"the MT (Masoretic text) which puts 292 years between the flood and Abraham."
Can you show me how you arrive at that number. I see 428 years between the
beginning of the flood and Abraham's entrance into Canaan at age 75. Or put
another way, 353 years between the flood and Abraham's birth. Where do you
    get your 292 figure from?

The MT says Abraham left Haran and entered Canaan upon the death of his
father Terah, when Terah was 205 years old and Abraham was 75.
(Gen.11:32-12:5) That puts Terah's birth 205 years before Abraham entered
    Canaan.
Gen. 11:24 tells us Nahor was born 29 years before Terah.
Gen. 11:22 says Serug was born 30 years before Nahor.
Gen. 11:20 says Reu was born 32 years before Serug.
Gen. 11:18 says Peleg was born 30 years before Reu.
Gen. 11:16 says Eber was born 34 years before Peleg.
Gen. 11:14 says Shelah was born 30 years before Eber.
Gen. 11:12 says Arphaxad was born 35 years before Shelah.
Gen. 11:10 says Arphaxad was born two years after the flood.
The flood lasted a year. (Gen. 7:11; 8:14)

    205 + 29 + 30 + 32 + 30 + 34 + 30 + 35 + 2 + 1 = 428 years from the beginning
of the flood until Abraham entered Canaan at age 75.

    Have I missed something?

    Mike
