Traditional doctrines of providence hold that God preserves, cooperates
with, and governs (i.e., directs toward his desired ends) all creatures.
Cooperation has generally been subsumed under either preservation or
governance. That makes sense in a worldview in which static substances are
moved around, but isn't so meaningful if the world is fundamentally dynamic &
things are made up of interactions, as in quantum field theory. Perhaps it's
better to think of cooperation as primary, and to think of God preserving
creatures by cooperating with their creaturely processes.
