    Two Tenure Track Positions in Biology
    Westmont College

    Westmont College has two tenure-track positions, rank negotiable,
    available for August 2002. Westmont is an evangelical liberal arts
    college with an enrollment of 1200 undergraduates, located in Santa
    Barbara, CA.

    We invite applications for two openings: 1. developmental biology,
    emphasis in developmental genetics or neuroscience a plus. 2. any
    subdiscipline of ecology, evolution or animal behavior (including
    behavioral neuroscience). Teaching responsibilities include a
    general education course for non-majors, participation in the
    introductory core for majors, and one or two upper division lab
    courses in specialty. Opportunity to contribute to senior
    integrative capstone course in Biology & Faith. We expect a vigorous
    research program that involves undergraduate students.

    Applicants with broad training and strong potential for externally
    funded research are encouraged to apply. A Ph.D. is required;
    post-doctoral research and teaching experience is preferred.
    Interest in the interdisciplinary, and particularly the theological,
    implications of biological science is desired. Westmont College is a
    Carnegie level I liberal arts college stressing excellence in
    undergraduate teaching, scholarship, and commitment to the Christian
    faith in the evangelical Protestant tradition. Our programs in the
    natural sciences emphasize undergraduate research, development of
    critical & synthetic thinking, and close personal mentoring of
    students by faculty. We have a major in Biology, with separate
    curricular tracks for cell/molecular, general, and environmental
    emphases, plus an inter-departmental major in Neuroscience.
