Just a brief comment on the Scopes trial. I read a copy of the transcript
many years ago and felt that neither side covered itself in glory. I can
understand why, for many years, Bryan's death was pushed, for a martyr
promotes any cause. And it's obvious why YEC have turned on him, for he
does not fit their "historical truth" that every Christian was YEC. But
they must be torn between extolling him as martyr and excoriating him as
OEC.
