The author is Daniel Taylor, and it is an excellent book. Even as good
as it is, the best part of it is the title. Everyone (scientists,
Christians, atheists) seems to be pursuing a myth that they can have
    certainty.

Unfortunately, the book was out of print about 10 years ago unless it
has been republished (I bought multiple discounted copies when it was
going out of print I liked it so much).
