Hitchcock on death and the fall

Art Chadwick has offered a quotation from Edward Hitchcock's 1840 Manual of
Geology, pertaining to death before the fall. Several times on this forum I
have pointed to Hitchcock as one of the most important authors on this very
point. I recently made available online the full text of the section on
natural theology from the 1863 edition of this work (revised with his son,
Charles) for this very reason:
