Denton'e theses regarding directed evolution. (Sorry for the slow reply.
I've been out of town for nearly a week.)
Placing Gould and Denton at the extremes of a contingency/direction
continuum strikes me as a fair assessment. Furthermore, noting the
difficulties of determining just where on that continuum we should place
the actual formational history of the Creation is both realistic and a
candid acknowledgment of the limits of our present state of knowledge.
