I think one very good reason is the fact that ad-hoc, pseudo-scientific
creationism is real big money. Its an industry that preys on a very large,
and very undiscerning market segment. Paradoxically, it is an industry that
practices in relative obscurity, and in the midst of a larger legitimate
creationist movement that itself is held in general contempt by mainstream
humanist types.
