EVOLUTION AND RELIGION
Anti-Evolution WWW Sites
- The Institute for Creation Research (ICR).
- The talk.origins archive site has an extensive list of creationist and anti-evolutionist WWW pages.
- The Creation Homepagecontains links links to creation webpages.
- Creation Science Home Page
- The Center for Scientific Creation has a very well organized and attractive web site. (But it generates Java error messages with some browsers.)
- Welcome to the Biblical Creation Society (BCS). This is where youwill find the anti-Richard Dawkins essays in addition to the standard misrepresentations of evolution. (The levelof scientific knowledge displayed on this site is an order of magnitude greater than that seen at other anti-evolutionistsites.)
- If you're looking for an example of hard core anti-evolutionism you can't do better than Darwin was Wrong! Scientists Defend Creation - links to (mis)quotationsfrom prominent evolutionary biologists.
- The American Scientific Affiliation is a group of Christianmen and women who are interested in investigating "any area relating Christian faith and science". They appear to befundamentalists and are sympathetic to the Creationist position. See A Brief History of The Modern Creationist Movement by Jerry Bergman for an excellent overview ofcreationism.
More Tolerant Viewpoints- Ontario Center for Religious Tolerance links to a balanced discussion of the evolution/creation conflict
Other "Religious" Perspectives- The Principia Cybernetica Project (PCP) has Webpages at the Free Universityof Brussels, Brussels, Belgium. It is an attempt to develop a philosophy of life based on the principles of cyberneticsand evolution.
- Evolutionary Values by Shaun Johnston.
Defending Evolution- The Evolutionary Tales is a lengthy essay on evolution and creationism written by Ronald L.Ecker in the style of The Cantebury Tales by Goeffrey Chaucer. (Ecker has written a modern English translationof Chaucer's major work.) The story concerns a trip to Dayton, Tenessee (site of the Scopes trial in 1925) and features "TheBiochemist's Tale", "The Geologist's Tale", "The Paleontologist's Tale", and many others. The quality of the science is generallyvery high - this is an accurate description of evoluton and a convincing refutation of most Creationist agruments. (As supplemental reading, I recommend Stephen Jay Gould's essay "A Visit to Dayton" in Hen's Teeth and Horse's Toes.)
- The National Center for Science Education (NCSE) is an American associationdedicated to defending the teaching of evolution against religious attack.
- The National Association of Biology Teachers (USA) have issued a Statement on Teaching Evolution that clearly outlines their opposition to Creationism.
- The position of the Roman Catholic Church is described by George Sim Johnston in an articlethat appeared originally in Lay Witness.
- There have been many debates between Creationists and Evolutionary Biologists. One of the most famous was held atAuburn University (Auburn, Alabama USA) on May 10, 1988. It featured Ken Saladin of Georgia College and Duane Gishof The Institue for Creation Research The full text of the debate is available at [Saladin-Gish Debate II]. This is generally thought to be a solid win for theevolutionist side but you should read it and decide for yourself.

- Cretionism Is Not Dead by Frederick Edwards.
- I Was Suckered Into A Debate - And Survived by Fred K. Parrish.
