I wish these words were taught everywhere -- not just in science
classrooms, but in our seminaries and Sunday School classes as well!
I guess Carnegie Tech, where I studied physics, must have done a good job
in this respect. At least, I cannot remember a time when I did not
understand Glenn's words as basic. But I would modify them, Glenn, just a
little. I'd replace your last sentence with words to this effect:
"We should read (and, by inference, investigate) with the goal of
DISPROVING our most cherished assumptions and theories."
By so putting them to the test, we necessarily strengthen them -- but
only if they are true!
