The answer to Joe Carson's attached question is "Yes". I was on the
committee which developed the present statement. The intent was to
maintain a high view of biblical authority, to make it clear that the
organization welcomed Christians from different traditions, and to say
something about the value of science for understanding the world.

Dear ASA'ers
ASA "Statement of Faith" was revised in the late 1980's
so that Catholics and Orthodox
Christians would not find it objectionable. I perceive
a implicit presumption
that only "evangelicals" qualify as Christians for purposes of "Christian
nobelists" in this discussion.
Have I missed something? I understood that ASA was trying to reach out to
all major parts of the Christian community for members.
Joe Carson
