For those who are interested, The Scientist magazine, which is a biweekly
news magazine for life scientists, recently published Pope John Paul II's
open letter to the Pontifical Academy of Sciences from October 1996
concerning the Catholic Church's current position on biological
evolution. It is followed by a response from David S. Thaler, a
microbiologist at Rockefeller University. In addition, there is also an
article about the ongoing debate about evolution and creation science.
