POSITION OPEN -- MOUNT VERNON NAZARENE COLLEGE

Applications are invited from suitably qualified mathematicians for
appointment as a full-time assistant or associate professor to teach
undergraduate students, starting the Fall semester of 1997. Salary and
benefits are based on rank and experience. Candidates with a Ph.D. in
Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a related discipline, and evidence
of quality teaching will be given preference. Minimum of a Master's degree
is required. College teaching experience is desirable. Commitment to
quality teaching is essential. The successful candidate will be expected
to teach courses in Probability and Statistics, Number Theory, and other
courses chosen from the areas of Trigonometry, Precalculus, Introduction to
Mathematical Systems, Introduction to Statistics, Calculus, Differential
Equations, Survey of Geometries, Technical Writing in Mathematics,
Numerical Methods, and advanced topics in mathematics. He/She will be
expected to teach a total of 24-27 semester hours per year and to advise
students who are preparing for careers in mathematics.

The successful candidate must also give strong evidence of commitment to
the philosophy of a Christian liberal arts education and be compatible with
the mission of Mount Vernon Nazarene College and its Wesleyan, evangelical
