I think you misunderstood me. I was thinking about the goals (dreams) of
society at large, and the possibility that we may expect our cloned friends
to either realize, or help bring about, the kind of society we ourselves
couldn't produce.
Nearly every parent comes to the somewhat painful conclusion that s/he
cannot live out his dreams through his children. In the sense that cloned
individuals will be the "children" of our technology, will we as a
society try to live our dreams through them? How fair would it be to do
this?
On another point, with the population problems we currently face, do we
really need another way to produce people?
These are concerns, not predictions. Thank you for the chance to clarify my
thoughts.
