evolution & race

1) Stephen Gould had an article on race in SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN
recently & may have a book out on it. (Pretty vague references!)
Essentially he argues that conventional racial distinctions don't
reflect any real biological distinctions.
2) Whatever the evolutionary background or backgrounds of
various groups of HOMO S, we are now one species. We can interbreed.
3) People like Haeckel used evolution to try to justify racism,
but haven't done nearly as much damage as the preposterous use of "the
curse upon Ham" in the hands of some Christians.
