Concerning whether Genesis 1-11 is historical. I would like to
comment only on Genesis 1. I would argue that Genesis 1 is a-
historical in that God's activities which are proclaimed here do not
occur in time. I beleive that time is a dimension of creation; not
an eternal principle along with God. Thus time comes as the result of
God calling creation into being. This creative activity is thus
not subject to time nor the laws which are the result of the
creative activity. That's the reason why I argued earlier that
this creative activity is incomprehensible to human understanding
since, as creatures, we are bound to created reality and its law
ordering principles, also in our understanding. Humans, in their
scientific activity are thus also limited to investigating the
unfolding of created reality; we are unable to investigate the
creation itself because God was not bound to the laws and time which
was the result of his creative activity.
