know _anything_ about Socrates or Jesus is by the manuscripts that have been
preserved. Therefore the entire arguement is reduced to the reliability of
the manuscripts.
Josh McDowell, F.F. Bruce, John Warwick Montgomery and many others
have written extensively about the existing manuscipts of the New Testament,
and compared them to other ancient documents. If anyone on this list is
*seriously* interested in this topic they are going to have to go to the
library and read through some of these works.
