Pepperdine University
Malibu, CA
August 2 - 5, 2002
LOCATION: Pepperdine University is one of the most beautiful campuses in the U.S., and sits on a hillside overlooking the Pacific Ocean less than one mile from Malibu Beach and a State Park. The University offers 19 tennis courts, an Olympic-size pool, sauna, outdoor basketball courts, and an all-weather track to exercise on. The food court is run by Marriott and offers an amazingly good selection.
FAMILY OPPORTUNITIES: The greater Los Angeles area offers many opportunities for attendees to sign up for once you have registered, including: Universal Studios Tour and City Walk, Disneyland and California Adventure, 6 Flags Magic Mountain, J.P. Getty Museum, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Los Angeles Zoo, La Brea Tar Pits, Children's Museum, Space Museum, IMAX Theater, Museum of Science and Industry, Dodgers' and Angels' Stadiums, trips to Santa Catalina Island, etc. We will schedule only the most popular options, but will help arrange others. If you wish to camp at a local State Beach Park (14 and 21 miles away), reservations will need to be made early in the Fall of 2001. There is one reasonably priced motel about 9 miles away, but the Malibu motels/hotels are quite expensive.
AFTER TOUR: A post-conference tour is being planned
that will include a number of early California missions from the
late 18th and early 19th centuries, Sequoia and Yosemite National
Parks, Monterey-Carmel Bays, as
well as a ride through Big Sur along scenic Pacific Coast Highway
