The theme for the 45th annual meeting is "Environmental Chemistry in the Curriculum." Currently we have commitments from the following speakers:
MACTLAC stands for Midwestern Association of Chemistry Teachers in Liberal Arts Colleges. This group serves college chemistry teachers in the states of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, and Wisconsin and meets once a year for a two-day meeting running from 1 p.m. on a Friday to noon the following day. Teachers from the state of Ohio are traditionally invited when the meeting has a host in one of the eastern states.
The meeting activities include three plenary sessions and three discussion periods in which participants select from among a half-dozen concurrent discussion groups. Invited speakers may be involved in some of the discussion groups. A Sci-Mix program offers the opportunity for meeting participants to present a poster that may be of interest to the liberal arts chemistry teachers community. We expect around 150 participants. More meeting details will be presented on this webpage as the meeting date draws closer.
If you want to be on a mailing list for this meeting, we suggest that you go to the MACTLAC homepage and fill out a membership form (membership is $2/year but members receive a discount for meeting registration). Otherwise, contact Mark Muyskens (muym@calvin.edu).
