Qualifications:
The department is seeking a Ph.D. biologist with expertise in genetics and microbiology. Trinity seeks candidates for faculty positions who are professing Christians and committed to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service. They should support the goals of a strong liberal arts education in the tradition of Reformed Christian higher education and be competent to demonstrate to students a mature articulation of faith and learning. Responsibilities:
The Biology Department has a three-track major which serves undergraduate students interested in graduate/medical school, ecology, and the allied health sciences. Christianity and Science
Christianity and Culture is a college-based, non-departmental, undergraduate program of the Faculty of Arts and Science at the University of Toronto. It is based at St. Michaelís College, a Catholic College federated with the University. The Program is dedicated to a multi-disciplinary study of Christianity, its traditions, self-understanding, and interaction with world culture.
The Program invites applications for a University of Toronto tenure- stream position at the level of Assistant Professor in the area of Christianity and Science, commencing July 1, 2007.
Undergraduate teaching responsibilities will include providing courses in one or more of the following areas: Christianity and Science, Faith and Physics, Christianity and the Life Sciences, Christianity and New Technologies, and a course in the candidateís own field of expertise. Teaching load will be 2.5 full- year courses (including graduate instruction).
Graduate teaching and supervision will be based in the Institute for the History and Philosophy of Science and Technology, in which the position holder will be a member and will hold tenure, if it is granted.
Research expectations are commensurate with those of a research-intensive university. Moreover, the appointment includes an expectation of full membership in College life.
The successful applicant will have a baccalaureate (or higher) degree in one of the following areas: physics, chemistry, biology, geology, or astronomy; and a doctoral degree that demonstrates engagement with the interface of Christianity and science. The successful candidate will also have demonstrated or have the potential for excellence in research and teaching, and knowledge and appreciation of the traditions of Catholic life and thought.

The Templeton-Cambridge Journalism
Fellowships in Science & Religion, funded by the John Templeton
Foundation, enable up to twelve print, broadcast, or online journalists to
pursue an intensive two-month course of study in issues of science and religion.
The program includes three weeks of seminars at the University of Cambridge in
the U.K. featuring eminent authorities in the field. Fellows will be paid a
stipend in addition to travel expenses to Cambridge.
The fellowship seeks to promote a deeper understanding and a more informed
public discussion of the interface of science and religion. Potential areas of
study include comparison of the methods of science and religion, neuroscience,
cosmology, quantum uncertainty, and spirituality and health.
Applicants must demonstrate an interest in the field, originality of thought
displayed in previous writings, and a superior record of journalistic
achievement. The awards are open to journalists with a minimum of three yearsí
experience, though priority will be given to mid-career and senior journalists.
The fellowship program is looking for journalists who show promise of making a
significant contribution to the publicís understanding of the complex issues
in the field.
